Congratulations to Our Member of the Month – Keith Sherman!

Keith started with us just this summer. After struggling from PTSD and getting his mind in a good place, he figured he better do the same with his body. Keith is retiring (officially in August) from the Navy. He served most of his career supporting the SEAL/SWCC Teams, while serving as a Special Operations Parachute Rigger.

He found Invictus when walking by and noticed that everyone working out seemed like they were having fun and smiling. Keith came in one afternoon and he was ready to make a change. He knew the accountability was important so decided to do the 2 times a week semi-private program with Kirsten. He thought Kirsten was amazing after the first session. She took the time to listen, tailor the workouts based on his fitness goals and really got to know Keith.

Since he began this journey he has changed his eating habits and he’s in the gym everyday – two days with Kirsten and the other days doing the regular group coaching programing. Keith has lost about 27 lbs, and is dedicated to making his food everyday. He LOVES the energy that he feels when he comes into in the gym and will never leave with a dry shirt.

Keith said, “Persistence pays off. People can change and anything is possible with hard work.”

Toward the end of August Keith will be hitting the road around the country for his non-profit, Gold star Dirt with the mission to reduce the number of suicides due to PTSD/Traumatic Brain Injury.

“I am one Veteran on a mission to drive to every state in the United States from San Diego to Massachusetts, and every state in between and raise awareness to the sacrifice that Gold Star Families have made for this great nation. Additionally, I am on a mission to reduce the number of suicides due to PTSD/Traumatic brain injury. Please help me to honor these families, as well as raise awareness to this pandemic that is a effecting our ranks and dramatic numbers.”
