Move up to 1 hand on your knee and one on the floor. Then to both on your knee. Progress over the course of a few days/weeks to getting to where you can sit upright.

When I started I was both hands on the floor. After a month or so of doing it I can now stand upright and can definitely feel the difference in all my exercises from stretching out those nasty hip flexors finally. Desk jobs cause havok on them!

If it’s not easy to get upright, you should not force it. Instead, leave your hands on the floor, squeeze your butt and push the front of your hip through like you’re pushing it out toward the floor. As long as you feel your quad and the front of your hip opening, getting upright is a secondary concern.
